Well, School is back in session. I am at yet my 3rd school location, but I am loving it already! I always fall in love with each class of kids. :) Spencer, and Benjamin are in junior high, and Sophia started 1st grade at Bear elementary. It looks like it's going to be a busy year!!!

Friday night staycation in downtown Montgomery was quite a treat. We were able to hang out with my sister Heidi, Buddy Sean, and Lily. We also ran into a lot of friends while there. The kids had a blast on all the inflatables especially the water ones. They also enjoyed seeing their favorite Disney characters there along with Spiderman. Sean liked racing Nascar. He had Jeff Gordons car. The next night Saturday the 4th we had fun hanging out with Heidi, and her family cooking out with them, and having a great time on the Slip N Slide. Hopefully I can get the ones of just the kids from my Sister. She, and I also played on the Slip N Slide. :) It was pretty funny, but a blast. I'm glad she coaxed me into joining the fun! :)

This event was the Mad Hatters Tea Party. I don't know why my pictures came out so dark, and the images look small too. I know I will need to invest in a better flash, and lens, but for now that will have to wait. :) Tomorrow will be TOY STORY at The Party Palace. Sophia is finally excited about it. She is also eagerly awaiting Under The Sea in July. :) I can't wait to see how excited all the children will be for this next one.

Well, Sophia, and Benjamin are starting to feel a little better. Benjamin is being treated for a double middle, and inner ear infection with a perforated ear drum, and Sophia who had a 102 degree fever for a bit is on antiobiotics for an outer ear infection which the Doc says is swimmers ear. She cried, and hollered off, and on for close to Two days, and alhtough she is still quite fussy the screaming has stopped, so hopefully she is on the road to wellness! Willy, and I will be glad when she, and us both get a good nights rest when the infection subsides. :)

Today Sophia watches the Grey Striped Kitten play, and she says to me. Aww look Mommy. He sure does love to explore. I said how do you mean? She says you know mommy Explore means to search, out, or discover the world around you. I said Ohh like their Mom Rose. She then pipes up, and says Oh no mommy she's too old she just hunts. I hope we find a home for these Two precious Kitties. :) I know Sophia will miss mothering them, but they can't stay.

Sophia loves to read with Mommy. She has always loved to hear me read with my dramatic way, and now I find her doing the same thing. As I walked up to her closed bedroom,( She has been doing that of late, and says she needs her privacy lol) door to put away some of her clothes, and I heard her reading with much emotion in her voice. I opened the door, and there she sat on her bed surrounded by her baby dolls sitting in their high chairs, and carry seats reading to them. It was soo cute. LOL. I did not have my camera handy! Would have been a cute pic. Anyhow I hope she continues to love books as her Mommy, and Daddy are big book worms!! Ben loves to read too, but Spencer can take, or leave it.

Our sweet girl had her kindergarten graduation on Friday. I can't believe my baby girl is going to first grade. The program was very lively and the kids were all adorable. It was a luau theme and they all dressed in swimsuits and had on hula skirts and straw hats. Sophie sang her little heart out and savored every moment of her special day.

Sophia had a Purplicious/skating birthday party at Wonder World in Prattville April the 4th. Her birhtday was April 8th, and she is a whole 6 years old now as she calls it. The party is not the one we planned, and not everyone showed up, but we still had a nice time. She wanted me to read the books below, and asked me to read them the way I do at home, so I did. LOL. I put a lot of drama into any books I read. I Love to read!! Especially to children. Anyhow Happy birthday to our baby girl Sophia Grace. My sweet baby is growing up way too fast for me!! :( :)

Well, we were finally able to get Sophia seen on base for her facial rash that has been flaring up since November, and the first thing out of the Doc's mouth was she needed to be screened for Lupus. She stated that Sophia's rash resembles the Lupus Butterfly rash. Anyhow they took several vials of blood, and will let us know in a few days what the results are. I am praying they come back negative, and we will go from there as to what this rash is. After the blood work Sophia, and I headed upstairs for her 6 year shots, and we both recieved the Flu shot. Then it was downstairs to the Pharmacy waiting area for her allergy meds. Spring break sure flew by fast. I was busy most of the week with little time for fun. We had planned on going to Mobile for a day, but it rained for 3 days!! So we had to stay here at home in Montgomery. Oh well, hopefully the famiy can have some fun this Summer. Anybody out there besides the few people who see my blog please say a prayer for Sophia, and our family. :) Thanks. :) Praying for you too!!!!!!!!!

Kindergarten?

Sophia went on her first school field trip today at the muesuem of fine arts. She says they watched a puppet show, looked at all the art, and went to Ida Bell Park for a picnic. There were 5 kindergarten classes from school to attend. She was so excited about riding a bus for the first time. I only wish I could have been a chaperone. When our boys were little I took a big part in their school activities, but with working full time, and with the job/field I am in I worry about asking time off to participate. :( Anyway Later this evening I asked her if she wanted to go to kindergarten again next year, and she said NO!!!! Next year I will be in First grade, and only babies will be in kindergarten. I said oh so you are a baby now? She then said oh no. I am not a baby. Some of the kids in my class do act like babies , but I don't, and next year I will be in First grade, and will not have a baby report card! I will have a real report card like my brothers do. :) I thought that was really cute. She then said well, I have homework to do, and I don't understand where my pencil is, and the crayons are. Sooo I guess that was my hint that the conversation was at an end. LOL. She says things I should be constantly recording so I can keep them for her when she grows into a woman. :)

Sophia surprised me again tonight with some of her knowledge.
I was giving her a bath, and talking about the snow when I was a little girl, and how I remember wearing a pink snow suit when I was her age, and being scared because I was stuck in the deep snow face down when a bigger boy pushed me down into it, and sat on me. As I was talking about it Sophia calmly said eeww an arachnid, and she moved to the back of the tub. I said oh no that is just a lump of fuss that came off of the clean wash cloth. When I went to retrieve it I saw for myself that it was indeed a big fat black spider. After I scooped it up into a cup I said I hate insects. Sophia said Mommy a spider is not an insect it is an arachnid. She then told me that insects have 6 legs, and arachnids have 8 legs. After I called Willy into the bathroom to dispose of the spider he noticed that it was holding it's breath, and showed me the air bubble in it's mouth. After about 5 to 10 minuets we noticed that the spider had sunk to the very bottom of the cup, and before Willy could flush it down the toilet I said wait lets strain out the water, and put it on a paper towel for a picture. Well, we did, and the spider was dead. A while later I poked at it, and it jumped up, and started running!! The boys quickly covered it with the cup. We took another picture of it, and covered it back up. Now many hours later at 10 Pm the spider is still running around under that cup. Willy is going to set it free. I thought it pretty funny that Sophie continues to call it an arachnid. LOL. Will post a pic of it later on.

I didn't really like the costumes as they were too grown up for such sweet little innocent girls, but they did do a great job on their disney dance number. :) I did a better job with pictures on my sister Heidi's camera!! Valentines day was poppin this year. I was loaded down at school where I work by several of the students, and co workers, and SSaturday morning Willy woke me with a Dozen Red Roses, some Candy, and a warm soft snug shower wrap. Saturday evening Willy, and I went out on a romantic date with my Sister Heidi, and Brother in Law Buddy. We had a nice time at Dawsons at Rose Hill. The food was excellent. I am now thinking of a place to go for our 17th wedding anniversary!!. Here are a few pictures we took of each other on V-Day night. :) Hope you all had a nice one.

Just checking in after a busy week. This weekend will be the last basketball, and cheerleading games for Ben, and Sophie. Later that night will be the awards ceremony, and special childrens speaker. Dance competition, and Band Spring recitals coming up soon as well. We are also trying to get well from all this chest crud/croup, and upper resprtory infections. All 3 of our kids missed school because of it, and loads of children at school are getting sick with it as are a lot of the Teachers!! Nasty stuff!! Anyhow it has been a busy few weeks!! I am so tired from all the going, and going non stop. Atleast with the basketball, and cheering season coming to a close I may get some breathing room. Willy always tells me to mslwo down, but I never do. When it comes to taxing the kids, and car pooling, etc I guess I need to slow down, and he needs to speed up?? LOL. The kids don't get to see Willy, or spend much time with him at all, and I am hoping that can change, because they will be grown ups themselves before we know it!! Well today I spent the day at home with Sophia. On the way to school this morning Sophia got sick in the new car, and was still getting sick after we walked into the school office. She started her antibiotic today , and Ben will start a second round of meds for a lingering double ear infection that he was seen for a week ago on a Sunday. This past Sunday morning at Pri-Med they had to irrigate his ears. After I got Sophie home this morning she seemed to perk up a bit except for looking a little pale, and not having much of an appetite. A little later on in the day I was able to work with her on learning to identify money. I started with the coins, and the dollar bill. We worked for about 40 minuets on it. Last week I started introducing her to Time. I was given some really cute clocks from Chic Filet. I sarted her on the whole hour, and then a few days later we started on the half hour. I am going to try, and alternate a few days each week on both practicing money, and telling time. :) I don't want to bore her too much.

Like the old song goes Be careful little ears what you hear should also be oh be careful little mouth what you say. We found this out just last night during song service at church!! About 6 months ago Willy, and I were discussing our disapointment in a certain young lady that we had admired for several years, and the discussion was about the young lady becoming, or seeming to start acting conceited by posting bacoodles of self taken snap shots of herself in sexy poses on her e-mail/blog. They were not dirty, or anything, just very boastful, and very un becoming such as laying back with sexy expressions, or lifting her dress up to her thigh, and stuff like that. She was only a young teen, and we were disapointed. We only made a few comments to each other about it, and that was that. One of us made mention of her older Sister's self taken pictures as too sensual, and that she may have been following after her big Sister. Anyhow last night in Church Sophia kept asking me something about the young lady. I will call her Jenna for privacy sake. I couldn't hear Sophia over the music, so I leaned down closer, and she had to repeat it to me Three times before I understood what she was asking me. My heart nearly fell when I realised what she was asking me!! Nearly 6 months later she was asking me this question. Mommy?? Is Jenna really a sex bug? What's a sex bug? I was in shock because number one I don't remember Sophia even being in the same room with us when anything close to that was said, and 2nd that was like 6 months maybe even longer when That discussion even took place which was over, and done with in a matter of minuets. So the lesson learned is we will be very careful what comes out of our mouths from now on for all our sakes!! :)

Sophia usually attends her cheerleading practices on Monday nights, and cheers at games on Saturdays, and does dance on Thursday nights, however since Sophia will be in her first dance competition at the end of Febuary they have started extra dance practice on Saturdays from 1 to 2 pm. This weekend dance practice fell on game time, so Sophia decided to practice for the competition, and skip cheerleading for today. She has two games left, but they will not be held during the same time as dance practice those last two Saturdays so thats good news. Anyhow today after dance practice Sophia got to do a dance duet with her instructor Ms. Heather. I video taped it, and she did a wonderful job. They were both in sync, and looked just great together. :) Since I got video I didn't get to get a snap shot. I will get plenty of those at the competition though.

Funny little story about Sophia.

Sophia is our fruit, and veggie kid. She will eat chicken nuggets, and hot dogs, and only hamburger meat if it's in Spaghetti, but for the most part when I serve dinner she will only eat the veggie, rice, and fruit. She does not like noddles such as Mac, and cheese, and is not to hip on breads, so when she said what she said last night I thought I'd share it. Last night as we were all in the living room watching a family movie Sophia walks up to 14 year old brother Spencer, and says I wouldn't eat hot dogs if I were you. As soon as those words were out of her mouth my husband Willy fell over in laughter, and didn't stop for a bit. After he regained his composure I asked him why she asked Spencer about that, and why was he laughing about it. He then told me that 3 days before Sophia had asked him what hot dogs were made of. Daddy told her that they came from pigs, chickens, and so forth. After he told her this she said well I guess I will never eat another hot dog. When he told her hamburgers came from cows she said I already know that, and I don't eat hamburgers anyway, and next time I will eat just plain spaghetti. A few minuets later Spencer pipes up, and tells Sophie he is allergic anyway, and hasn't eaten a hot dog since he was a baby. So it looks like our Sophia who was border line vegetarian has been pushed over that line by her Daddy's revelation about the hot dog!! We will see what happens in the near future on her eating habbits. :)

Here they are. Our new pet family memebers. :) They are spoiled rotten already. The first one we got a few weeks ago was from my Sister's Montesori school. Her name is Coa Coa. The newest one we adopted from one of my Teacher co workers at Garrett Elementary. His name is Guito. They are so cute. Coa Coa is very docile, and is used to being handled by our kids. Guito is still quite skiddish, but I'm sure he will come around. :) Here are some pictures of our new furry friends.

Well, we are getting closer to getting another car. Hopefully soon!! It will be so nice to stop worrying on a daily basis if I will be stranded on the interstate, or the side of the road somewhere as that has been happening more, and more frequently. I really am praying for a good reliable dependable car preferably a Honda, or a Toyota, but whatever God has for me I pray I find soon. :) I don't know when, but when we find the right one, and actually get it I'll post the pics.

Busy couple of months headed our way with game days, dance recitals, birthday parties, and baby showers. We found out tonight last minuet that Sophia's dance class was selected for competitions Febuary 27th which will be held here in Montgomery this time around. For the most part the age for competition is 7 years old. Although Sophia is the smallest dancer in her class there is one other girl her age that is 3 moths older than she is, but most of the other girls are 7, and 8 year olds. Sophie will be 6 April 8th. We are considering letting her participate in the competition. When we started ballet, and Tap it was with the idea for excerise, balance, and confidence. She has come out of her shyness quite a bit as she used to hide behind my legs, and sometimes still does at school, etc, etc. She has come along way socially though. If she does compete we were told tonight that they will wear the recital costumes. I still have no idea of what they look like this year, but I hope they are more toned down from years past. :) Well, I'm off to bed. I had a very long week!! The last two days have been very stressful which I knew they would be considering our kiddos have trouble adjusting to their schedules after such a long break from their every day routines. It's really hard on Autistic children when things change from what they are used to on a day by day, hour by hour so on, and so on in their lives. Structure, and stability reign supreme for them I guess as it should be for most anybody. :) The only thing I dread when vacation time comes is the stress, and anxiety that come with the week, or two afterwar that it takes to get the students back to functioning like they normally do without so many meltdowns, and so forth. We have enough of those without all the added extra ones when school is out for any extended length of time!! :) Have a nice weekend.

Now that Christmas break is over it's back to Monday night practices, and Saturday games for Ben, and Sophie. This Saturday will be Sophia's turn to call out the cheers, and at pracrtice last night she was loud, confident, and all smiles while she practiced calling them out to her team the Angels. Pictures also came back last night during practice, and I can't post them because our scanner is broken, so I will have to find someone who will let me scan them for our files so I can add them to our blog. In the meantime we are also working hard on the dance routines for the 2 fast approaching dance recitals. Hopefully for Sophia's sake the dance costumes will not be itchy, and scratchy like the last 2 years have been. In the picture below it was pure luck that I got this shot of Sophie up off the ground. At the start of each game they call out each cheerleader, and each girl does her signature jump, and shout.

Hello friends.

This afternoon while at school I was told my phone rang a few times while I was in the lounge running the copy machine, and when I returned the call I found it was my Sister. We spoke for a few minuets, and she told me that my husband said I could come get CoaCoa the Guine Pig that was a class pet at the Montesori school she works at. CoaCoa is the same coloring as our Daushaunds, and we have been sitting here chuckling at CoaCoa. She runs around her big cage, and it truly looks like she is having fun. It may be because she spent 2 weeks in her smaller carry cage, altohough she did get lots of exercise in her play yard. My Sister, and her 2 sweet kiddos had been baby sitting for CoaCoa during the Christmas break, and when I walked up the driveway Sean saw me, and said loudly I know why your's here aunt Heather. You are here to take CoaCoa home with you. He said I will miss her, but she will be like my cousin, and I can see her sometimes. A little while later after my Sister loaded the huge cage, and all the stuff CoaCoa would need for her new home with us Sean said see ya later CoaCoa, and ran back into the house. Anyhow after I came home It took our Son Spencer to get the heavy wooden bottom part of the cage inside, but we finally got CoaCoa settled. We have just been sitting back watching her run around, and Sophia, and Spencer can't stop laughing at her as she runs around in circles, stops to drink some water, run some more then stop to eat. She surely will be spoiled rotten just like all the rest of them around here. I Will post a pic when I can. :) Have fun at school this week!! I know I will. We all are in for a big workout with our special bunch. Anytime our kids are out for more than Two, or Three days it is a challenge to get things back on track!!

Looking back on 2008.

Lets begin with January 2008.

The year started out with the loss of a dear friend Felicia Hoots. She was a wonderful person, Friend, Wife, and Mother, and she is greatly missed. Felicia was in a car wreck several days before Christmas 2007, and bravely hung on to life, and left this world January 18th 2008. Her memory will live on in all who knew, and loved her. In the Spring of 2008 Willy's parents home was hit by a Tornado, and by the grace of God their lives were spared. Their home, and land sustained much damage, and devestation, but we are so blessed that they are still with us today. :) Summer came, and went, and I prayed for God to open the right door for me concerning a new job. School started August 6th, and within the hour of the school day I got a call about a job. I started on with Garrett, and by September 23rd it became official. I am back in the system as a Para Profsessional, and this time around I am working with strictly Autistic children. I love it. Before I had worked with special children in general with a wide range of disabilities, so this is a new challenge for me, and so far I am doing well with it. From time to time I ask myself if I am really cut out for this line of work, and sometimes wonder if I am good enough for it, but when I am away from the kids, and the atmosphere I really miss it especially during holidays, and Summer breaks. In 2008 we reached many highs, and had many lows, but God was always right their with us. Sophia had a 3rd wonderful year in Tap, and Ballet started Kindergarten, and her 2nd year of cheerleading. Benjamin started 6th grade, joined band for the first time, began his 4th year in the quest program, and continued a 6th season of basket ball. Spencer is a junior high student, always on the phone, and continues building, and creating things. :) Our kids are growing, and surprising us all the time. :) Also this year my Brother, his wife, and their little girl welcomed a new baby girl into their fold. We are all happy to welcome this new bundle of joy into our wonderful loving family. Willy, and I will reach 17 years of marriage in several months, and we pray that we as a family will grow closer to each other, and to God in the year/years to come. We pray that you all have a safe, happy, healthy, and Prosperous New Year!! Here are a few pics from the year 2008.

Benjamin is the brainiac of the family. He has always excelled in the academics, and has been in the quest program for the past 4 years. He is in 6th grade this year is one of three members of the flag team at school is in begining band, and in the new technology club. At the start of the school year he asked to try band, and wanted to play the Sax. I stumbled upon an amazing deal, and bought a 14 hundred dollar Sax in almost perfect condition for only 2oo dollars. it came with the case, a cleaning kit, reeds, and several books. He started band, and after several weeks his band Teacher told us the Sax was too big for his hands, an that we mig wt t o try the trumpet, trumbone, or the baritone. We took him to capital music to try him out on those other instruments, and you could see, and hear right away how good, he was on the baritone, and the trumpet. Ben had never ever played an instrument, but the second he blew into these horns we all knew that one of those would be his instrument. After settling on the trumpet Ben returned to school, and just a few days later his teacher approached me on my break in the teachers lounge, and said Mrs. Cole it looks like Benjamin is a sleeper. I said what's that? She then told that a sleeper is what musicians call a person that has never touched an insrtrument, but they have a dormant talen they never knew they had. At the time she told me this Ben had only been in band for about 6 weeks. Since that time he has continued to get better, and more comfortable on his trumpet, and practices a lot. He loves being in band. All this time we assumed that our oldest Spencer was our only artistic, and musical child. We wikll never again assume when it comes to any of our children. Now we tell them they are capable to anything they put their mind, and heart to. Sophia has been in dance, Tap, and Ballet, tumbling, and cheerleading, and now is asking about voice, and piano lessons. Not to mention she is showing a new interest in drawing, and painting. At this time I will let her explore all her dreams as we will with the boys, and see what happens. :) Here is a picture of Ben with his trumpet in the Christmas concert at school the week of December 19th. :)

It looks like we have another Artist in the family. Our family is filled with Artists, including myself, and Our Son Spencer, but it looks like our little girl Sophia age Five may have a touch of talent in drawing/painting just like big brother, and mommy. For the last month, or two she has sat in our kitchen floor painting, and doodling with anything she could find. She asked us for an art Easel for Christmas, and she was thrilled when Santa came to our home, and presented her with one on Christmas Eve. The first work of art she did is what she says is an Auburn football fan. When asked where the persons hair was her reply was haven't you ever seen a bald man?? LOL. Anyhow since this drawing today she has been in, and out of her room working on her Easel. She just loves it.

Good evening. I hope you all are having a blessed Christmas. Praise be to God for his many blessings. The kids are still pumped, and ready to start enjoying some of their gifts after spending most of the day out of the house, with friends, and family. Spencer loves his neat gadget house phone from radio shack, and I must say now that he has shown me all it can do I want one. His phone is better than the regular house phones. LOL. He is big into radio shack, and electronic gizmos. Benjamin is tickled to death with his hi tech skate board, and new bike. Sophia will be busy busy with her new easel, barbie's, and barbie castle. Willy got me some music CD's,,, John Mayer, a nice purse, and some books. I just love music, and I love to read!! I bought Willy some headphones he can wear while watching his programs, and not have to hear back ground noises of the kids. :) God is good, and we thank, and praise him for our family, and friends. MerryChristmas from the Coles.

The kids are excitedly awaiting Christmas day. Sophia has been constantly singing the Hippopottomos song, and knows the words, and tune quite well. We will be bringing our piano home soon this Christmas too. Sophia is anticipating piano lessons. I don't know yet how I will work this into her already packed schedule of Dance classes, and Cheerleading, but we will see how it pans out I guess. Cheerleading, and Ben's basket ball will resume around the first of the new year. Benjamin is going to play a few Christmas songs on his trumpet for Grandaddy, and Grandmomma, Willy's parents who are visiting from the Tennessee valley area. They will be here until the Sunday after Christmas so we will have fun!! Spencer mentioned something about working on a 5 page essay he will need to have when he heads back to school after the break. I am enjoying my break from school, but am already missing our special kiddos. I think about them daily, and wonder how they are enjoying their holiday. Hi!

I am Heidi. I am surprising my sister with this blog because she is so special to me and has been wanting to get one started. She is wonderful, gifted, talented, smart and has three beautiful kids who I am in love with too. (oh, and a great husband who treats her like a queen) They have a crazy lot of pets and I am thinking she will use this blog to talk all about them and post pics of them all.

I titled the blog "Coles on the Roll" because they are always on the move. They wake up very early in the morning, since they live out in the boonies, and never stop. School, work, ballet, basketball, church, wal mart, cheer leading, gym, and traveling a little out of the way to get to all these places are usually part of the everyday routine.

Their minivan quite frequently overheats but it is still rolling...... I love you sister!
